Just in: Gunmen Kidnap PDP chieftain in Kaduna

- Some armed men have kidnapped a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party

Some armed men have kidnapped a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Musa Danbaba Saya-Saya in Kaduna state.

The armed men - five in number - kidnapped Saya-Saya on Tuesday, February 13, at about 1 am, PRNigeria reports.

The men were said to have stormed Saya-Saya village in Ikara local government area of Kaduna where they forced their way into the residence of the PDP chieftain.

Confirming the incident, Aliyu Musa the son of the Saya-Saya who was a former state treasurer for PDP in Kaduna said the gunmen invaded the house and abducted his father with two vehicles.

A close associate of the politician said there is no contact with the kidnappers as of the time of filing this report.

Also police spokesperson in Kaduna, Mukhtari Aliyu, told PRNigeria that while the police were yet to confirm the motive of the attack and the kidnapping, the anti-crime team in the state had been activated to rescue the politician.

“Immediately we got the report, the commissioner of police has activated and instructed the anti-crime squad to take all necessary measures to rescue the victim," Aliyu said.

Legit.ng earlier reported that women from Umuowa-Ibu community in Okigwe local government area of Imo state staged a protest over kidnappings in their community.

The women protested to the Imo state police command asking the police to prosecute the three kidnap suspects arrested in the community.

The police assured them that appropriate actions will be taken to address their agitations.
