Just in: Fani-Kayode’s ‘heart-related’ ailment stalls money laundering trial

The trial of the ex-minister of aviation, Femi Fani-kayode, stalled on Wednesday, January 31, after the defendant’s lawyer told the judge his client could not attend proceedings due to “heart-related” ailments.

Premium Times reports that Norris Quakers, Fani-Kayode’s lawyer, said the former minister was complaining of a heart-related pain and would provide a medical report later today, Wednesday, January 31.

Fani-Kayode and Nenadi Usman, a former minister of state for finance, are facing a 17-count of money laundering amounting to N4.6 billion.

Yusuf Danjuma, a former national chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and Jointrust Dimentions Nigeria Limited, is also joined as a defendant in the case. previously reported that the Yoruba Youth Socio-cultural Association (YYSA) condemned the statement credited to Fani-Kayode on President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf who was recently involved in a motorbike accident.

The association in a statement signed by its president, Olalekan Hammed, said as an elder, Fani-Kayode should always keep quiet rather than altering statement “myopically every time.”

The former minister had twitted that the motorbike accident involving President Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari, was a sign from God for him to resign.
