Senator Rabi Musa Kwankwaso, a former Kano state governor, has shelved his visit to Kano.
While speaking speaking through a former secretary to Kano state government, Dr Rabi'u Sulaiman Bchi, Kwankwaso said the cancellation of the visit came after several consultations, Daily Trust reports.
Senator Kwankwaso stated: "I have shelved my visit to Kano to avoid political clash in the state following series of advices I have received from well meaning Nigerians home and abroad.
"In view of this and after lengthy consultations with well meaning Nigerians home and abroad, we painfully have decided to shelve the scheduled visit at the moment.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso had vowed to go ahead with his scheduled visit to Kano state on Tuesday, January 30.
The senator's decision was coming barely 2 hours after the Kano state police command advised the former governor of the state to shelve the visit for security reasons.
The police commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, at a press briefing on Friday, January 27, warned Kwankwaso to either put on hold the visit or be held liable for any security issues that may arise from it.
