- The father of a boy wearing a H&M racist hoodie finally shared with the world his view on the issue that went viral on social media

The parents of a young Kenyan boy pictured wearing a H&M hoodie with a racist slur admitted that they never expected to receive such backlash regarding the issue.

The young boy named Liam was the discussion of millions on social media after a H&M advert of him wearing a hoodie with the phrase “coolest monkey in the jungle” went viral, as Legit.ng previously reported.

Father to Liam, Frank Odhiambo, finally spoke extensively on the issue in an interview with the Mirror from their home in Stockholm.

When the Mirror asked the two parents if they felt people had overreacted, they simply replied that when it came to racism, everyone was entitled to their own opinion.

Terry said: "It is not an overreaction when it comes to racism, everyone should react differently based on there opinions of racism."

Liam’s father confessed that they never realized the racist phrase on the hoodie at first. Odhiambo said: "You don't think to spot something like that."

Terry, however, went on the defensive and claimed that her son was part of a modeling agency in Sweden and it was just one of the many normal photo shoots her son had done.

She said:"The modeling agency is part of organising his photo shoot... it was no different from any other day."

Terry confessed that they did not even know such a hoodie even existed. She said: "Until the controversy came out we didn't know there was such a [hoodie]."
