Festus Keyamo, SAN, has described the rampaging herdsmen killings experienced in the country as a criminal act comparable to kidnapping and other crimes many governments across nations have been fighting.
Keyamo said on Twitter that both Muslims and Christians in Nigeria and many other African countries have been victims of suspected herdsmen attacks.
The human rights lawyer said that the suspected hoodlums are not attacking Christians only.
He added that the attacks are not as a result of having President Muhammadu Buhari, a Fulani, as the political leader of the country.
He tweeted: “Herdsmen have killed Muslims & Christians in d South & North & many other African countries. It’s a crime like kidnapping that many govts have been combating. But 4 political reasons, some are painting it as attacks on Christians or a problem solely created by a Fulani presidency.”
Legit.ng previously reported that Bishop David Oyedepo, the presiding cleric of Living Faith World Outreach, warned that continuation of the killing spree by killer herdsmen could create serious danger for the country.
Oyedepo issued the warning on Sunday, January 14 in a message titled “a wake up call to a nation in a state of slumber”.
In the message, the cleric urged the federal government to halt the killings to avert greater danger.
He claimed that insurgency is spreading across the country under the guise of attacks by herdsmen.
