Trump recants, denies derogatory statement about Africans and Haitians, regrets recording meeting

In reaction to the ongoing widespread condemnation on his comments on Africa and Haiti, President Donald Trump in a tweet has denied saying anything derogatory about the continent and country.

President Trump noted that henceforth he will record his meeting so as to avoid false allegations against him. He regretted being misquoted and mistrusted.

Legit.ng reported that President Donald Trump on Thursday, January 11, referred to Haiti and African nations as "shithole countries" during a meeting with a group of senators at the White House.

Trump reportedly asked the lawmakers: "Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?" The remark, made during talks on an immigration deal, was allegedly in reference to people from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries.
