A planned election for a new state chairman of the Kano PDP is reportedly causing crisis in the party.
Daily Trust reports that the crisis followed moves by the party to fill vacant position of its former chairman, Alhaji Rabi’u Dan Sharu, who was sacked.
Five aspirants have reportedly indicated interest to contest for the position, Daily Trust reports.
They include: Senator Mas’ud El-Jibril Doguwa, Muhammad Rabi’u Sabo Bakin Zuwo, a former speaker of Kano state House of Assembly, Alhaji Gambo Sallau, Alhaji Aminu Sa’ad Beli and Hon. Abdullahi Maraya Barkum, were said to have indicated intention to contest the seat.
However, one of the aspirants, Alhaji Aminu Sa’ad Beli, has written a protest letter alleging that the party was planning to impose Senator Doguwa as new party chairman in the state.
Some elders of the party are trying to impose Doguwa as state chairman of the party. I have petitioned the party national headquarters protesting against this arrangement.
“I am protesting the arrangement because it is undemocratic.
“I am waiting for the party’s response which will determine my next line of action,” he stated
He called on the national body of the party to take urgent action on the matter with a view to resolving the issue amicably.
Meanwhile, PDP has sympathised with the people of Benue state as victims of suspected herdsmen killings in the state were buried on Thursday, January 11.
The party in a condolence message on Twitter said the masterminds of the killings will have no rest for the evil they have committed.
The PDP charged those with the responsibility of bringing the perpetrators to book, to ensure that the masterminds face the full wrath of the law.
