Governor Okorocha's son slumps, flown abroad for treatment

- Governor Okorocha's son Aham is said to have slumped sometime during the Christmas week

- A Government House source said Aham's illness might be effect of a slimming therapy he was doing

- Science and technology minister Onu confirmed the report to APC chieftains during a high-powered southeast meeting in Ebonyi

- However, the governor's son is said to be in a stable condition after being flown abroad in company of his parents

The son of Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha has been flown abroad for urgent treatment after slumping some days ago.

New Telegraph reports that the incident occurred at about the same time President Muhammadu Buhari's son Yusuf also had an accident on a power motorcycle in Abuja.

According to the report, Aham Brendan Okorocha's illness was revealed on Sunday, December 31 during an important South East zonal meeting of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at Uburu, Ebonyi state at the country home of former Governor of old Abia state and serving minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu.

Governor Okorocha and his son Aham at the latter's graduation recently.

Onu explained that his son's illness was responsible for Governor Okorocha's absence at the meeting.

He said: “I had been in communication with Governor Okorocha and he had assured me that he would attend this meeting but sometime last week, the Governor called me to explain that he may not be able to attend afterall as his son had taken ill and had been hospitalized in a London.”

New Telegraph quoted Imo Government House sources as saying that Aham Okorocha, a first Class Engineer, was rushed to a local hospital and later flown abroad for treatment after he slumped during the week of Christmas.

It further quoted a source in Government House as saying Aham's slimming therapy may have been responsible for his illness.

He is however said to be currently in a stable condition after he was taken abroad in company of Governor Okorocha and the Imo First lady.

Meanwhile, had reported that armed policemen and officers of the Department of State Services (DSS) are still keeping vigil at the Cedar Crest Hospital, Gudu District, Abuja, where President Muhammadu Buhari’s son, Yusuf, has now spent six days in the facility.

According to the report, the policemen have been joined by officials of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) as well as officials of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) as at Sunday, December 31, 2017.
