Amaechi declines speaking with journalists in Lagos over fears of being misquoted

- The minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, visited the Lagos House Ikeja on Thursday, December 7

- Amaechi declined to speak with journalists afterwards, saying 'I don't want to be misquoted'

The minister of transport, Rotimi Amaechi, declined to speak with journalists in Lagos during his visit to the Lagos House, Ikeja, on Thursday, December 7, Punch reports.

Legit.ng gathered that Amaechi met with the the governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, for an hour, after which journalists approached him but he declined to speak with them, saying "I don't want to be misquoted."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Amaechi, reportedly said it was time the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari moved away from criticising past administrations and focus on service delivery.

Amaechi spoke about countries like Singapore noting that for Nigeria to move on, it was time to stop the blame game and talking about what the past administrations could not achieve.

The minister also advocated for the provisions of smart and intelligent transport systems, just like in the developed world.

Meanwhile, Senator Magnus Abe representing Rivers Southeast senatorial district in the National Assembly accused Amaechi of being responsible for the problems in the Rivers state chapter of the All Progressives Congress.

The senator’s sore relationship with the minister of transportation, has threatened the peace of the party in the state.

He said the minister made certain remarks that led to crises in the party.
