Chief Raymond Dokpesi, a candidate for the national chairmanship position of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of systematically destroying the foundation laid by the PDP for the economic and political growth of Nigeria, Vanguard reports.
Dokpesi made the comment during a campaign visit to the party’s Abia state chapter on Tuesday, December 6.
Legit.ng gathers that he stated that the ruling party had been busy destroying what it met on ground, instead of building on the foundation laid by the PDP.
Dokpesi further alleged that Nigerians were now weeping after they had been deceived by the ‘change mantra’ of the ruling party.
The candidate also bashed the anti-corruption drive of the APC, describing it as being riddled with pretense, double standard and insincerity.
He used the example of the controversy surrounding the reinstatement of former pensions’ boss, Abdulrasheed Maina, and stated that senior government officials including ministers and presidency officials were involved in the cover-up.
Dokpesi declared that states administered by PDP governors were doing much better than states led by APC governors which he described as ‘experiencing retardation’.
He stated that he was best qualified to re-position the opposition party.
In his words: “Any mistake we make in 2019 not to take PDP back to power will be a total disaster. We have to collectively come together to solve the problems of our party.”
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Chief Raymond Dokpesi visited Abakaliki on Tuesday, December 5, to solicit the support of the southeast for his PDP chairmanship ambition.
Acknowledging the PDP’s dominance in the state, Dokpesi also endorsed Governor Umahi for a second term.
Dokpesi said that he would sustain the legacy of the party’s founding fathers and that of Governor David Umahi if voted as the party’s new chairman.
