- Libyan human defender, Omar Turbi, has said that human rights violation has been going on for a while in Libya

- France said it will propose to assist the sanctions committee in identifying responsible individuals and entities for trafficking through Libyan territory

- The country said it is counting on the support of the members of the council to make headway to this end

France’s ambassador to the UN, Francois Delattre, has urged the Security Council to impose sanctions on perpetrators of Libya’s slave trade.

He said: “France will propose to assist the sanctions committee in identifying responsible individuals and entities for trafficking through Libyan territory.

"We count upon support of the members of the council to make headway to that end."
