President Buhari vows to fulfil all his promises to Ndigbo

- President Buhari applauded Ebonyi people for the warm reception he received

President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Igbo people that he will fulfil all the promises he made to them especially in the area of infrastructural development. had reports that the president is in Ebonyi state on a two-day working visit to the southeast part of Nigeria.

In a statement by Femi Adesina who is the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, he said the president expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received.

Buhari also promised to fulfil all his promises he made to the people of the region.

He said: ''My presence here today is a demonstration of our strong belief in the unity of Nigeria. As the most populous country in Africa, with over 300 ethnic groups, our diversity is unique among nations.

''When I met with leaders from the South East last month in Abuja, they raised several issues of concern, including the state of the roads and infrastructure in the region. I want to assure you that we will deliver on our promises.

''Our 2018 Budget includes many strategic projects for the region in the roads, power, agriculture and other sectors.”

The president inaugurated the 14.5km Abakiliki-Afikpo Federal road constructed by the Ebonyi State Government.

He also commissioned the 700 metre length of the dual flyover over the Trans-Sahara route running from Enugu to Cameroon, and the Senator Offia Nwali flyover.

In addition, he performed the foundation-stone laying ceremonies of Ebonyi City Mall, another flyover and road tunnel named after him.

Meanwhile, Buhari was conferred with the titles of Enyioma 1 of Ebonyi and Ochioha Ndi Igbo 1 by the traditional rulers in the presence of the governors from the region and top politicians.

While Enyioma is said to mean 'a good friend', Ochioha Ndi Igbo means 'the leader of all the Igbo people'.

As part of the new titles, the president got a red cap as he laughed cheerfully all through the process.
