We are not part of your travail - Lagos government tells evicted lawmaker

- The Lagos state government has stated its own side concerning the eviction of lawmaker Adefunmilayo Tejuosho and her family from the official quarters of the deputy speaker

- The mansion was reclaimed from her recently and handed to the current deputy speaker of the House, Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni

- Steve Ayorinde explained that the claim by the Tejuoshos that they own they house is false

The Lagos government has hit hard at Kayode, the husband of Hon Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, a former deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly as issues concerning the reported eviction of the couple from a public property lingers.

The government also reacted to claims allegedly by Kayode accusing it of being behind the eviction of the family from the mansion located on 3A Sasegbon Street, Ikeja GRA.

In a statement made available to by the Steve Ayorinde, the information and strategy commissioner, the state said it was not involved in the issue.

According to Ayorinde, “the matter in question does not involve the governor's office as being erroneously alleged but a tussle of ownership on a government property between an interloper and the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.”

He added that it was a misdirected claim by the Tejuoshos to state that they own the property.

“The couple did not make any purchase on the property. The company that made the purported purchase did so in error and is yet to step forward to challenge the cancellation of the purchase since the company - a certain Debam Mega Solutions - which paid only a portion of the offer price never completed payments on it that would have entitled its full take-over and access to Certificate of Occupancy.

“The incomplete payment has since been refunded to the company and the property retrieved so that it can continue to serve as the official quarters of the Deputy Speaker of LAHA.

“That while government acknowledges a form of monetisation policy that allowed certain levels of government officials and political appointees to purchase official quarters in their individual capacity on owner-occupier basis, this policy never extended to companies like Debam Maga Solution which being no government entity could not have legally made a bid for a government property.

“That the names of the two directors of the said company are never Lagos state officials and the media is encouraged to investigate the names of those directors with the Corporate Affairs Commission whether the company is owned by the Tejuoshos or not as claimed by the husband,” Ayorinde said. earlier reported that the deputy speaker of the Lagos state House of Assembly, Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni, finally took over his official quarters from a Hon Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, 29 months after his emergence.

Eshilokun-Sanni, who represents Lagos Island constituency 1, had been living in his private residence since he became a lawmaker in 2015 as his official quarters located at 3A Sasegbon Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, was occupied, following the alleged refusal of Mrs Tejuosho, a former deputy speaker, to vacate the premises.
