Oyegun did not visit Yemi Osinbajo’s office - Presidency

The presidency has said that the national chairman of the All Progress Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, did not attend the meeting between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ali Modu Sheriff.

The media had reported on Thursday, September 21, that, John Odigie-Oyegun, joined Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in a meeting with Senator Ali Modu Sheriff which took place at the presidential villa in Abuja.

But the senior special assistant to the vice president, Laolu Akande, in a tweet on Friday, September 22, said this was not the case.

The spokesperson said Modu Sheriff visited Osinbajo’s office, but that Oyegun did not visit the office of the vice-president on Thursday as was widely reported in the media.

Meanwhile, the Borno stated chapter of the APC has rejected the alleged planned move of Senator Ali Modu-Sheriff back to the ruling party, New Telegraph reports.

Legit.ng notes that in a statement released by Maina Bashir, the Borno state party chairman, and Abdullahi Mala, the state secretary on behalf of the Borno state APC coalition, doubts were raised over the former PDP chairman’s political antecedents.

The chapter said it was unaware of any call or move by any person or group for the return of Sheriff to the APC.

It also said the party in Borno state was currently at peace, with no crisis whatsoever.
