Real Madrid have captured the 38th Santiago Bernabéu Trophy by Movistar after securing a 2 - 1 win over Fiorentina as they celebrated the 60th anniversary of the club's second European Cup crown which was won in their home stadium.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the winner with a long range effort that will live long in the memory of fans.

Fiorentina got their noses in front in the fourth minutes when Jordan Veretout scored with effort from the edge of the area.

Real Madrid were level just three minutes later when Ronaldo picked the ball up out wide to cross for Borja Mayoral to tap home virtually on the goal-line.

Ronaldo would give Los Blancos their 12 consecutive trophy when he scored a long range effort just before half-time.

Speaking after the game coach Zinedine Zidane hailed Ronaldo's effort in the game.

“That’s what this man is capable of, we’re happy to have him here,” Zidane told Real Madrid TV after the game.

“We put in a disciplined display and made a good start. I’m happy because the fans came out in their numbers and that was very important for us.

“We achieved what we wanted to, the trophy remains here and we all head home happy.”

Sergio Ramos, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez all featured for Zinedine Zidane’s side but didn’t last the full game but Ronaldo, suspended for La Liga matches did.
