The National University Commission Nigeria has released the latest university ranking in Nigeria. The National Universities Commission is a parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Education (FME). Over the years, NUC Nigeria has transformed from a small office in the cabinet office to an important arm of government in the area of development and management of university education in Nigeria.
The main functions of NUC Nigeria is:
- Granting approval for all academic programmes run in Nigerian universities;
- Granting approval for the establishment of all higher educational institutions offering degree programmes in Nigerian universities;
- Ensure quality assurance of all academic programmes offered in Nigerian universities; and
- Channel for all external support to the Nigerian universities.
In line with these, the Nigeria University Commission released the Nigeria university ranking, as you will read below.
According to the ranking, the University of Ibadan is the best university in Nigeria, closely followed by Covenant University Ota and the University of Nigeria.
