NSCDC arrests 2 Boko Haram members in Niger state

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested two suspected Boko Haram members in Minna, the capital of Niger state.

The security agency gave the two suspects as 20-year-old Usman Al-Amin as wll as Sanusi Ibrahim Bala.

A statement from the public relation officer of the command, Ibrahim Yahaya, said the suspects were arrested at different locations within the state capital.

The new arrest is coming just days after some Boko Haram members were reportedly arrested in Lagos state.

The suspects arrested in Niger were said to have been under surveillance before their arrest.

According to the statement, Al-Amin always pretended to be insane in the day time but revert to his normal self at night and at this time, he would make several calls to his members elsewhere.

“Apparently unaware that he was been monitored, he will make calls at night to persons we suspected were their members.

“It was at this point that it became clear to us that he is not a lunatic,” the statement said adding that the suspects were currently being interrogated.

A table knife, memory card, sim card flash drive, a dog chain and phones were recovered from the suspects.

The state commandant of the NSCDC, Phillip Ayuba, urged the public to be vigilant adding that the Boko Haram members were fleeing to different directions after being sent away from the Sambisa forest.
